Welcome to Cinq Neuf, a charming cafe located in the picturesque setting of Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto. Nestled alongside the serene waters of the Kamo River, this cafe offers more than just a menu; it provides an experience enveloped in warmth, comfort, and breathtaking views.

The atmosphere at Cinq Neuf is a delightful blend of tranquility and modernity, making it an ideal spot for anyone looking to unwind. Natural light pours through the expansive windows, creating a cozy vibe that encourages you to sit back, sip your coffee, and perhaps indulge in a slice of their renowned cheesecake as time drifts lazily by.

Speaking of food, patrons rave about the Basque cheesecake, which has garnered a solid reputation among locals and visitors alike for its rich, creamy texture that contrasts beautifully with its lightly caramelized top. The fried chicken is also a crowd favorite, offering a simple yet satisfying bite that pairs well with the cafe’s wide selection of coffee options, each expertly brewed to perfection.

While some reviews note that the menu is limited in terms of sandwich options - primarily offering egg salad and ham and cheese - the quality of what is served more than makes up for it. Greg Dunn captures the essence of Cinq Neuf when he describes it as a "super chill cafe with great coffee." Whether you're a local familiar with the area or just visiting, the friendly staff and inviting ambiance create a welcoming space that begs for longer visits, whether to work, relax, or socialize.

Real customer experiences shine through in the reviews. From Royal Ismayilov’s praise of the “charging place” and laptop-friendly setup to Francis Pine's delight in the friendly service and inviting atmosphere, it's clear that Cinq Neuf stands out as a must-visit destination for coffee lovers and casual diners alike.

As you settle in, take advantage of fast WiFi and conveniently placed charging ports, making it easy to stay connected or get a bit of work done while immersed in this cozy haven. Don’t forget to try the decadent tiramisu that Gregory Dunn mentioned— it's a true testament to the cafe's dedication to quality.

However, do come prepared as Cinq Neuf is a cash-only establishment, a detail noted by customer Nesllin Mae Dineros who found it to be a perfect spot for a relaxing day. With that being said, this cafe is far more than just a place to grab a coffee; it's a wholesome experience, perfect for a lazy afternoon or after a lovely stroll along the Kamo River.

In summary, let the ambient music, soothing views, and mouthwatering treats at Cinq Neuf envelop you in a tranquil Kyoto afternoon. Whether you’re craving a comforting meal, a lively chat with friends, or just a quiet moment alone, Cinq Neuf has everything you need—all under the gentle glow of Kyoto's beautiful skyline.

Super chill cafe with great coffee, a view, badass tiramisu, and charging ports with fast Wi-Fi. Lots of quality light and some small tapas. Also shame on the person who is resentful enough to leave a 1 star review on a new business.

We had coffee and sandwiches. All were good, although the portion sizes of the sandwiches were not particularly copious. The restaurant offers a nice view of the water stream next to it. The service was amiable. We found it pricey for what we had however, and the choice of sandwiches was limited to two types: egg salad or ham and cheese.

We stopped here 3 times. Excellent coffee 5/5. Basque cheesecake 5/5. Simple lunch is simple, but the fried chicken was delicious. It’s a little costly, but the atmosphere is excellent. The view is to die for, and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s easy to enjoy this café. Great stop for a cozy hang when out for a bike ride or walk along the river. I would visit again for the view, espresso, lattes and cheesecake for sure!

It's a nice place to chill and enjoy the Kamo River. The coffee was decent for the price and view. But serving a cold cookie wasn't the best idea.
